Abstract

The assessment of land cover changes and their influence on ecosystem support services (ESS) is a useful tool for decision makers as it offers foundational insights into regional dynamics and ecological changes. The following instructions give an overview on the data, software and analytical steps required to perform an assessment of ecosystem service supply (ESSS). ESSS is the capacity of a region to provide a range of ecological resources and services, e.g. water purification and biodiversity through forest or urban land cover, within a specific time period. - The project on which this technical instruction is based, was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany under funding number 01LE1804B1.
