Abstract
A brief overview of the role of the muon magnetic moment in the study of physics beyond the Standard Model is given. The general Czarnecki/Marciano bound is discussed, and the contributions of very different types of physics beyond the Standard Model are compared. Supersymmetry as a particularly promising scenario is discussed in some detail, and examples of the impact and the importance of ( g − 2 ) μ for new physics are reviewed.
