Abstract

The existence of nonmagnetic, metallic states in dimensions d≥2 with a Fermi surface of ordinary S=1/2, charge -e and sharp quasiparticles was proved. It was shown that the Fermi liquid (FL) state has a Fermi surface enclosing a volume determined by the density of both the conduction electrons and local moments. Results showed that the states have fractionalized excitations linked to the deconfined phase of a gauge theory.
