Abstract

Feldschwarm® is a modular and highly automated machine system. It combines driverless self-propelled units with standard tractors. This machine system was tested for more than five weeks in the area of tillage under various field and environmental conditions. The self-propelled unit worked together with the tractor-drawn unit driven by different tractors and working autonomously using the ISOBUS – TIM standard. The fieldwork (the path, the machine parameters and the process commands) were planned and transmitted by the control system "helyOS". The main aims were to adjust and test the entire control systems (e.g. the drive or the path planning system), to determine the performance limits of the self-propelled machine (e.g. the work speed or the work depth) and to work with a highly automated swarm system under real conditions. The tests have been shown that the Feldschwarm®-system meets well the general requirements for the process of tillage. Both the work result and the technical parameters of the process was comparable with standard tractor-implement applications.
