Abstract

The aim of this paper is to describe the trend of increasing strength of high performance concrete under increasing levels of confinement pressure. High performance concrete can be described as a cementitious composite material with high compressive strength, low water-binder ratio, high silica-fume and cement content and with no presence of aggregate larger than 4 mm. This material posesses superior properties such as self-consolidating workability, high compressive and tensile strength, increased ductility and low permeability.
