Ten years ago the guideline of the Deutscher Ausschuss für Stahlbeton (DAfStb) "Loading tests on concrete structures" was published [1]. The following proposed studies that were conducted on a reinforced concrete ribbed slab construction of a structure built in 1958 at the TU Dresden are just one example of the now numerous applications of this guideline. Reasons for the detection of the current structural safety of the slab construction were the planned conversion of some rooms, the current structural condition, doubts over capacity, performance and fire protection and the previous structural analysis of the consulting engineers from KÃRNER + HACKEL (Dresden).
