Abstract
The dynamic interconnection of modular plants contradicts static paradigms of functional safety originating from conventional plant engineering. An adaptation of the safety lifecycle models developed for conventional plant engineering is therefore necessary in order to be able to represent the aspects of flexible interconnection of plants. This paper describes the development and evaluation of safety lifecycles in the context of focus group workshops for Process Equipment Assemblies and modular plants.
