Abstract
In our digitized world, the importance of virtual work environments continues to increase. A prior study showed that, in the collaborative business domain of product costing, adequate collaboration support is still missing and that generic collaboration solutions are not able to cover relevant requirements. We established an approach for e-Collaboration that focuses on its integration into the core process of product costing. This paper investigates the impact of our concept, called Business Domain-Specific e-Collaboration, on different use cases for collaboration in product costing. The evaluation shows that our approach has strong potential to improve the collaborative costing process by increasing transparency, ensuring data consistency, and raising awareness for the process.
