Abstract
We propose extending the MPI interface to allow the non- destructive test of multiple statuses in a manner that is guaranteed to mimic the progress and fairness behavior of the correspond- ing MPI_WaitXXX and MPI_TestXXX functions: MPI_Request_get_- status_all, MPI_Request_get_status_some, and MPI_Request_- get_status_any. We show how this can simplify tool code and allow safe layering of tools that wish to wrap the wait and test families of MPI functions.
