Abstract

Empirical analysis of the acceptance of alternative mobility services in a rural area on the ex-ample of Freyung-Grafenau\nThe basic goal of the project “intelligent linkage of mobility and local supply for the adminis-trative district Freyung-Grafenau“ is the improvement of the participation in public life of the population from the rural district by alternative mobility services.\nTo reach an optimum of the acceptance it is necessary to explore acceptance factors prospective. Therefor potential determinants of acceptance of three different kind of mobility services and local supply will be analyzed through a structural equation analysis to achieve first insights about acceptance factors of the german population. The first service is a bench to give someone a ride spontaneous named Mitfahrbank, the second one is a volunteer-based public transport named Bürgerbus and the last one is a local supply services to order goods and every day items from a local retailer.\nThe results show that people require a wide spatial dispersion of the Mitfahrbänke. On the other side a person will give someone a ride if he or she has a positive attitude to this mobility service and assesses the transport of a person as safe. A Bürgerbus will be take into consideration if the Bürgerbus represents a faster opportunity in comparison to other available means of transport. Furthermore, the people require extensive information about this service. Concerning the local supply service, the results show that the people prefer the possibility to order purchases online and require a fast and simple ordering process. In addition, the people would transport a pur-chase of somebody if they have a positive attitude to this service and if they do not associate the transportation with an additional time requirement.\nThese findings give first starting points for further formation processes of the services. The acceptance could be increased if the people will be convinced of the necessity of the services. As part of public relations activities doubts and incredulity could be reduced. Especially the attitude and the perceived safety are immaterial determinants which could be influenced posi-tively by public relations activities.
