Abstract

This paper proposes a target-oriented approach for quick parameter adjustments of controllers for grid-forming converter systems. By combining parameter sensitivity analysis with participation factors, the method identifies states and controller instances contributing to unfavorable system behavior. Accounting for eigenvalue damping ratio sensitivity, it overcomes the comparability issue of sensitivity parameters. Visualizing participation factors and eigenvalue sensitivities enables engineers to quickly modify control systems. Simulations demonstrate the method’s effectiveness in identifying critical parameters and suggesting adjustments for improved system performance. This approach offers a practical tool for engineers dealing with the challenges of grid-forming converter control system design.
