Abstract
Using the content analytic DOTA-technique for the measurement of cognitive inference styles (dogmatism) and the Gottschalk-Gleser-technique for the measurement of anxiety more than 600 texts containing more than 150,000 words were analysed. These texts were written in 1991/92 and 1997/98 by East German students. The themes of these texts related to the German reunification ("Socialism", "Gentle revolution", "Future"). We expected differences in dogmatism and anxiety according to theme of text and time of writing. A low but significant positive correlation between dogmatism and anxiety was found. Scores differed significantly between the two points in time. Especially anxiety scores were influenced by the different text topics.
