Diskurse über Diversität in Fußballfanszenen

Research output: Contribution to journalResearch articleContributedpeer-review

Abstract

This paper deals with discourses on gender and diversity in current football fan scenes. On the one hand, these are shaped by archaic norms of masculinity, which are reflected in sexist and homophobic insulting practices in the stadiums as well as on social media. On the other hand, anti-discriminatory positioning and discourse interventions can be observed especially in the digital follow-up communication. From a discourse-linguistic perspective, the paper discusses the diversity-related fan discourse in its interconnection of analogue and digital communication and shows that diversity in football is discursively contested and thereby also politically charged.
