Development of a mobile robot for automated masonry construction

Abstract
An innovative mobile robot for the automated construction of masonry is currently developed at the Chair of Construction Machinery at Technische Universität Dresden in conjunction with its industry partner SKM GmbH. The system is called Wallbot® and differs significantly from all other known concepts. Wallbot®-technology is not only fully adapted to methods, norms and rules for masonry construction, it is more versatile, practicality, economically efficient and provides a high degree of automation. The robot shall be able to operate autonomously 24/7 without human interaction. Besides picking and placing bricks, the robot will also adapt the bricks to length and apply the mortar.
