Abstract
This demonstration showcases a teleoperation system that undercuts system latency through anticipatory grasp recognition. Traditional systems suffer from delays in sensing, transmission, and actuation, reducing responsiveness in prosthetics and remote manipulation. Our setup uses a data glove to control two robotic hands, of which one is following the tracked hand movement reactively, and a second robotic hand follows the hand proactively with grasp anticipation. By anticipating the intended grasps from motion kinematics, the system compensates for latency. Attendees will perform reach-to-grasp tasks, directly comparing reactive and anticipatory control. The demo illustrates how anticipatory computing enhances human-machine interaction in latency-sensitive applications.
