Abstract

The crystal growth of the metal-organic framework on the surface of pulp fibers was presented. The study examined the deposition of Cu 3(BTC)2 on pulp fibers because it showed good properties and stability. Laboratory paper hand-sheets were prepared containing Cu 3(BTC)2 powder for the study, which showed an inhomogeneous distribution of powder. Chemithermomechanical pulp (CTMP), a bleached southern pine kraft pulp, and an unbleached kraft pulp were also used in the study. Powder X-ray diffraction was used for analyzing the samples and scanning electron microscopy was used for determining the degree of distribution of Cu3(BTC)2 crystal on the fiber surface. The study found an inexpensive and pliable substrate that can be formed to papers for using in filtration industry.
