Abstract
A uniform magnetic field has been used to increase the CO2 absorption rate in ferrofluids and reduction of pressure drop in a venturi scrubber. Both ferrofluid concentration and magnetic field strength were found to be very effective parameters on the performance of the venturi scrubber. The results showed that by increasing the magnetic field strength, the pressure drop along the venturi scrubber decreases, while the mass transfer performance enhances. Under the magnetic field strength of 5120 G, increasing the ferrofluid concentration from 0.01% to 0.05% led to an average increase of 20.5% in CO2 absorption. Besides increasing the magnetic field strength from 2960 G to 5120 G, the CO2 removal percentage rises to 12.8%. (C) 2021 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
