Abstract

The operation of a commercially available (6.5 kV, 500 A) IGBT module as Zero Current Switch (ZCS) in a series resonance converter is presented in this paper. A test bench with a novel operation mode, which allows the investigation of the semiconductors at low expense of power supplies, is shown. Finally the switching behavior of the IGBT is analyzed in detail as well as compared to hard switching operation.
