Abstract

In this paper the carsharing potential is identified for the city of Leipzig in 2022. In order to do so, the compound annual growth rate of the last five years is adjusted with a slight increase. The increase is assumed due to the better provision and expansion of the carsharing supply. In 2020, 35,000 people in Leipzig will use stationbased carsharing. In order to cope with the users, 875 cars cars will be needed. There will be further 550 freefloating carsharing cars within the city.\n\nIn order to avoid an over- or undersupply with carsharing cars in individual districts, the districts of the city of Leipzig are scorde regarding the potential of the inhabitans to use carsharing. The districts were scored in regards to indicators reflecting to socio-demographic characteristics of the population, their mobility behaviour and urban planning measures. Depending on their scoring, the districs have been categorized, each category being awarded a different number of carsharing cars.\n\nBased on the variance analysis, it is possible to determine the districts with the highest need enllarging the carsharing supply. Furthermore there are two crucial advises given how to implement the planning of the carsharing stations in the regular planning process especially with the dynamic growth of the city.\n\nWith the scoring process and the scorting results the city of Leipzig holds an effective and usable supervision tool fostering the extension of carsyharing,.
