Abstract

Carbon-reinforced concrete under sustained loading – Contribution to the assessment of tensile and bond behavior. Carbon-reinforced concrete systems offer great potential in terms of durability and resource efficiency. For reliable structural application, a sound understanding of their long-term behavior under mechanical and thermal loading is essential. This report investigates the creep behavior of carbon-reinforced concrete specimens under constant mechanical load and elevated temperature in a water bath. Two test series were conducted: one focused on the time-dependent tensile performance of specimens with single-layer mesh reinforcement, the other on the bond behavior with symmetrically overlapped reinforcement. The results show significant time-dependent deformations in the bond zone. These findings contribute to the long-term characterization of carbon-reinforced concrete and support the evaluation of current design approaches for non-metallic reinforcement.
