Abstract
This chapter presents an overview of the challenges as well as strategies for the automatic control of crystal growth from melt. After a short and general introduction into the fundamentals of advanced control technology, the main melt growth techniques are discussed. It is shown that model-based tools are an essential resource for an in-depth dynamic analysis and control performance optimization of the processes. A general outlook on open areas of research with respect to these topics completes the chapter.
