Abstract

The effective field theory is a precious tool for the search for physics beyond the standard model. For example it provides the ability to analyse scattering processes for higher center of mass energies than any experimental setup could accomplish. On the other hand it makes it possible to approximate already known processes for a certain energy regime, where it manages to shorten the calculation but still provide an astonishingly close solution. Hence it is essential for the improvement of the standard model and therefore for the extension of our knowledge of particle physics in general. This thesis starts with a general overview on the creation and measurement of scattering processes at LHC at the CERN. There will be a closer look on the most crucial process for the further analysis, the W±W± → lνlνjj-process. Finally for the investigation of the physical background there will be an introduction on the effective field theory, including every parameter that is involved in it. For the main part of the analysis, there will be a check on the sensitivity of observables with respect to the EFT-signal. Further the procedure of the binnin optimization will be explained. At the end, there will be a calculation for the stat-only-limits, which will provide further inside on the sensitivity of the used observables with repect to the EFT-parameters.
