The invention relates to a display device (33) for outputting pixel-based display content, having: a display film (20) for displaying the display content and a flexible carrier element (10) on which a rear side (11) of the display film (20) rests, and a rolling mechanism (37) for rolling up at least a part of the display film (20) and of the flexible carrier element (10) about a roll-up axis (14) into the form of a roll (40), wherein the carrier element (10) is in the form of a carrier film (19) on which a supporting structure, projecting perpendicularly from the carrier film (19), is formed, said supporting structure extending on a side of the carrier film (19) facing away from the display film (20). According to the invention, the supporting structure has a multiplicity of cells (21) that are open on one side and are bounded towards the cell bottom (22) by the carrier film (19) and towards all the cell sides by cell walls (23, 26) projecting perpendicularly from the carrier film (19), wherein the cells (21) each share a cell wall (23, 26) in pairs and as a result form a honeycomb structure (12).
