Abstract
In everyday clinical practice, complications after anaesthesia due to the prolonged effect of commonly used medications occur more frequently than is perceived. Of particular importance are the effects of muscle relaxants, opioids and benzodiazepines. Especially postoperative pulmonary complications might result from an anaesthesiologic procedure. This article intends to provide an overview of the incidence, prevention and treatment of the prolonged effects resulting from these drugs.
