Abstract
Recent developments in press technology resulted in the invention of the servo-screw press. The still limited knowledge for presses using this new actuation system gives reason to analyze this machine concept. The article discusses the application of virtual analyzing methods applied to characterize these newer developments in metal forming press technology. The dynamic behavior of servo-screw presses is analyzed by means of single component models as well as models of the whole machine structure. Based on these simulations, application fields for this new generation of presses, are estimated. Furthermore, the suitability of static dimensioning methods for machines applied to high dynamic processes is investigated.
