Abstract
With a questionnaire designed by the German Migraine and Headache Society, the frequency of visits from patients suffering from migraine without or with aura in specialized headache and pain therapy units were documented for the different weekdays. We hypothesised that there was no difference in frequency between migraine without and migraine with aura with respect to the weekday for the visit. Out of 2 562 observations, 262 cases of migraine patients (without aura: 202; with aura: 60) were analysed. While patients with migraine without aura showed an equal distribution for each weekday, patients with migraine with aura visited the headache and pain therapy unit on Monday and Thursday significantly more often. We assume that patients with migraine with aura seek help faster due to their neurological symptoms and therefore visit the units on the days after weekend and after Wednesday, when general practitioners do not work in the afternoon.
