Cost and environment conscious structural design requires efficient use of resources. Optimizing the utilization of materials while taking into account the uncertainties can make a significant contribution to this goal. To achieve optimal load-bearing behavior, the optimization process is of decisive importance. Since mathematical formulations of an optimization objective often cannot be achieved, gradient-free methods represent a promising approach for this task.
