Abstract

Graphite electrodes are used worldwide in electric arc furnaces and other electric furnaces. With steelmaking, as with all other fields of application, graphite electrodes have to comply with highest quality demands. But also the economical aspect must not be neglected. Since the early 1980s, the specific electrode consumption has been continuously reduced through optimized operation processes and improved electrode quality.
