Abstract
The European Train Control System (ETCS) was originally conceived as a set of standardised functions to enable infrastructure managers (IMs) to adapt ETCS optimally to the operating and technical rules of each national railway network. However, national ETCS Level 2 (L2) implementations often differ significantly from one another, partly due to the different approaches that are embraced and rather independent development. This article analyses different national implementations of this ETCS level based on two selected scenarios.
