Abstract
The velocities derived from repeated geodetic GNSS observations on seven sites in russian antarctic stations were used for a geokinematic interpretation. The process of plate tectonics is clearly reflected in the horizontal velocity components. Based on the results of the GNSS observations, the rotation parameters of the Antarctic tectonic plate are derived and the recent activity of a rift zone along the Bransfield Strait is confirmed. The vertical velocity components observed on the GNSS sites are compared with the vertical deformation rates as predicted by a GIA model.
