Organisation profile

The Institute of Physiology represents the subject of physiology in teaching and research. In teaching, the institute's employees carry out teaching tasks as part of the training of students in the model course in human medicine at the Chemnitz Clinic, as well as the standard course in medicine, dentistry and midwifery at the Carl Gustav Carus Medical Faculty in Dresden. The institute's research focuses on the areas of cardiovascular and metabolic physiology, their interaction and the associated diseases, such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Our goal is to understand the function of these systems of the organism and the cells, tissues and organs involved, to uncover mechanisms that lead to their diseases, and to develop new therapeutic approaches.
