Surface modification of la (Fe, Si)13 with copper using dry coating technique for magnetocaloric regenerators

Abstract
Magnetocaloric La (Fe, Si)13 intermetallic powder is dry coated with ductile metallic copper. The dry coating is attempted by two different processes using a high energy impact coater "Nara Hybridization System (NHS)" and Fritsch P7 Planetary Ball Mill. LaFe11.6Si1.4 was used as core particle and metallic copper as the coating. SEM and EDX images show the homogeneous coating obtained by the NHS while partial coating was observed by the ball milling process.
