Hall effect in conducting ferroelectric domain walls in Lithium Niobate

Abstract

Domain walls in LNO constitute a two-dimensional electron gas. To better understand the\nproperties of the domain wall, it is very important to measure the Hall effect. The Hall effect\ncan be used to determine the type of charge carrier, the charge carrier density and mobility.\nUntil now the Hall effect in domain walls has only be measured using very complex setups,\nwhich locally measure the Hall voltage using an AFM-tip. In this thesis a new concept to\nmeasure the Hall eect has been used. The classical setup to measure the Hall voltage a current\nis applied between two electrodes at each side and the Hall voltage is measured between two\nelectrodes at the top and bottom side. This setup has been rotated around 45°, by applying two\nelectrodes at the top and bottom side. The Hall voltage is measured diagonal. This electrode\ngeometry can be applied easily to domain walls. This allows macroscopic measurements of\nthe Hall voltage and makes it easy to expand the setup, to measure the inuence of light with\n
