Abstract

Schleussner, Heike: Supplementary potential for means of transportation within\nshort- and long-distance traffic\nMASTER THESIS\nTechnische Universität Dresden, “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences,\nInstitute for Transport and Economics, Chair of Information and Communication\nBusiness Management & Economics\nStudy Program Transport Economics, 2015\n105 Pages, 22 Figures, 32 Tables, 75 References, 24 Appendices\nIn this study general statements about the usage and quality of supply as well as a\ndescription of supplementary potential for several means of transportation have been\nmade. Benefits of mobility services have been extracted and compared within developed\nsupplementary scenarios. In the data analyses complement potential for free\nfloating car-sharing with public transport in peripheral regions and in the evening, as\nwell as the strength of the bike sharing in the city center was shown. In a conclusion\nderived economic implications for companies based on among others this central\nfinding were discussed. For the study of long-distance traffic an accessibility model\nwas developed which proved the strong development of the western part of Germany\nwith the rail traffic and the potential of the here-faceted remote bus in the eastern part\nof Germany. In addition, the domestic air traffic was shown as the most important\nmean of transportation for business clients within Germany and the initially high-rated\npotential for rail transport within these clients had to be diminished. Again, economic\nimplications and further research needs were discussed in a final conclusion.\nCarsharing; Bike sharing; Public transport; long-distance traffic; Reachability calculation;\nIntermodality
