Abstract
From a strategic perspective, spatially substantiated visions define a development framework that has to take into account a multitude of individual concerns. The following contribution presents a methodology for a “multi-criteria assessment of environmental concerns” to support the review of space-related strategic visions. The procedure combines different geostatistical methods (landscape structure metrics, multi-criteria assessment, weighting) and provides the base for further analyses and interpretations. By applying the procedure the strategic vision of the Draft Landscape Plan of Dresden has been analyzed and reviewed in a spatially differentiated manner. Moreover, the review of the strategic vision has contributed to the upcoming adjustment of the vision and to its implementation in the context of urban land-use considerations. Beyond the aspect of reviewing and modifying strategic visions, the methodology also offers the potential to provide a basis for the development of space-related visions and for a multi-criteria assessment of green and open spaces in the context of a qualitative internal development.
