Abstract

The analysis of the influence of stratification on the turbulent transfer of heat, moisture and omentum fluxes in the surface layer at low wind tropical site in Nigeria is described. The preliminary results show that there exists a significant dependence of heat, moiture and momentum the surface layer stability, with a sharp decrease of these turbulence parameters with increasing stability. The results suggest that the turbulent mixing is negligible and vertical eddy transfer of heat and water is suppressed by the stable stratification. An empirical relationship that appears to fit the observed behavior has been suggested.
