Abstract
The contribution gives a summary of the impact research which has been carried out for several years at the Institute of Concrete Structures of Technische Universität Dresden, including an overview of the available experimental facilities for investigations on the material and structural level such as Split Hopkinson Bar and drop tower facility.
The core of the article is about detailed information on experimental tests on the structural level carried out in the drop tower facility of the Otto Mohr Laboratory. Both, the gravity driven impact mode as well as the accelerated impact configuration of the drop tower is presented. In addition, the experimental investigations on reinforced concrete plates and small-scale textile reinforced concrete specimens are described. Subsequently, the contribution addresses also tests with a combination of both, RC plates and additional strengthening layers. The objective is to determine the influence of external and internal parameters such as impact velocity as well as the reinforcement configuration of the base plate and additional strengthening layers on the global respectively local behavior. For this purpose, among others, support force and displacement measurements in combination with the analysis of qualitative and quantitative damage parameters are evaluated. Finally, a conclusion and outlook of the further ongoing impact research at Institute of Concrete Structures is given.
