Abstract

The use of textile reinforced concrete (TRC) as a strengthening measure is a simple way of maintaining existing concrete structures and ensuring their long-term load-bearing capacity and serviceability. This method offers clear economic and technical advantages over conventional methods such as shotcrete, particularly for heritage structures. The thin strengthening layers are barely visible and preserve the original visual appearance, while introducing only a small amount of additional weight and moisture. A large number of listed buildings, complex shell structures and even bridges, have been repaired or strengthened using this construction method. The most important of these practical applications are presented here.
