Abstract
The reaction time of pneumatic cylinders is an important factor in optimizing industrial manufacturing processes. This study statistically analyzes reaction and movement times, considering mechanical influences and communication latencies based on sensor data acquired via OPC UA. Due to high repeatability and small variations, a purely distribution-based approach is insufficient, as no consistent statistical distribution could be confirmed. A hybrid characterization using normal distribution and quantiles is proposed. The results support adaptive control strategies to optimize cycle times.
