Abstract

Structural Health Monitoring of infrastructure became increasingly relevant over the past decades. Quality indicators facilitate an objective assessment of monitoring outcomes. While quality indicators should ideally be applicable independently of the specific monitoring task and measurement technique, certain indicators may only be relevant for particular applications. Additionally, they have to be tailored to the specific monitoring systems, sensor types, and data types involved. Distributed strain sensing (DSS) using distributed fiber optic sensors (DFOS) differs from conventional measurement techniques by generating two-dimensional datasets that encompass both spatial and temporal dimensions. Consequently, quality indicators must be adapted to this two-dimensional characteristic of DSS. The paper provides possible solutions for quality assessment for DSS measurements.
