Abstract
Double-crown-retained removable partial dentures are a common treatment option to replace missing teeth in a reduced dentition. The number and location of the abutments influence the long-term prognosis of the prosthodontic treatment. Posteriorly placed dental implants can positively influence the prognosis of a remaining anterior dentition. However, due to anatomical conditions in the posterior region, augmentation procedures are often necessary to place standard-length dental implants. But patients often reject bone augmentation due to financial or other reasons. In the present case, short dental implants were used to avoid a necessary sinus elevation for the placement of a standard implant.
