The subject of this paper is to make a general survey of the currently eisting methods of recording olfactory and chemo-somatosensory biopotentials in man. Their topographical distribution on the skull respresents specific qualitative differences in activation of these two different sensory systems. Thus, it can be assumed that it is possible to confirm differences in subjective descriptions of sensations which indicate an activation of the olfactory and the somatosensory system.
