Abstract

The demand for sustainable concrete construction has driven the development of clinker-reduced ecoconcretes and corrosion-resistant non-metallic reinforcements. This study investigates the bond behavior of CFRP and GFRP rebars in eco-concrete and standard concrete in pull-out tests. The examined specimens exhibited the successive bond failure mechanism known from previous research. An influence of the rebars’ matrix material and surface structure on the obtainable bond stress values were determined. After the onset of bond damage, bond stress increases were determined for the stiffer epoxy matrix material, in comparison with previous studies on thermoplastic matrix materials. Higher concrete strengths also contributed to this effect.
