Abstract

This study investigates the bond behavior of CFRP and GFRP rebars embedded in eco-concrete (EC). Pull-out and beam-end tests were conducted to assess the influence of bond length and concrete cover. Results show that both CFRP and GFRP rebars exhibit reliable bond performance with EC. Differences in stiffness and maximum bond strength were observed between the two reinforcement types, attributed to rebar surface morphology. While CFRP rebars displayed stiffer bond behavior, GFRP rebars achieved higher maximum bond stress values due to their more pronounced surface texture. The study further demonstrates that a reduced concrete cover of 20 mm does not impair bond performance, underscoring the potential for slender and material-efficient components with non-metallic reinforcement.
