Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of transversal rovings’ spacing on the bond behaviour of chemically prestressed carbon textile-reinforced concrete plates. For this aim, eight concrete plates of dimensions 500 mm x 150 mm x 30 mm were cast. The plates were divided into four groups based on the spacing between the transversal rovings and reinforcement configuration. The distributed fiber optic sensing (DFOS) technology was used to monitor the expansion strains developed inside the concrete and the textile reinforcement for a period of 90 days. After that, all the plates were tested under a direct tension test to investigate the influence of the transversal rovings’ spacing on the structural behaviour of the plates. The results of the study have revealed that the transversal rovings’ spacing and reinforcement configuration have significant influence on the bond behaviour between the expansive concrete and the textile reinforcement.
