Abstract

There was only a single chance, within the scope of a small cooperation with the German Armed Forces, to follow the interest of science in the blasting of concrete slabs. In addition to many drop tower and accelerated drop tower tests done in the Otto Mohr Laboratory at the Technische Universtiät Dresden, we used the opportunity of a field test under the same conditions. For this purpose, the entire laboratory equipment was transported to a military training area, and instrumented in a similar manner. The remote operation of the otherwise self-sufficient measuring system was realized from a safe bunker from 300 m distance. We measured bearing forces, accelerations, displacements and recorded high-speed images. The load was applied by 0.75 kg PETN with a TNT equivalent (TNTe) of 1 kg. The evaluation of the data was done parallel to the numerical modelling for a deeper understanding of the process. The following paper describes the experimental procedure in detail. With the knowledge, to enter a new territory with this type of loading conditions, errors are openly named by the authors and the methodology will be critically questioned.
