Abstract

For the first time in history of the DB AG new concepts for supporting structures for valley viaducts have been realized on the newly built line Ebensfeld-Erfurt-Halle/Leipzig by using semi-integral structures. Because of the variance to the previous design principles, the authorities require a monitoring of the real behavior of the viaducts in order to verify the assumptions from the calculation and to gain experience with semi-integral structures. One of these viaducts is the 576,5m long Scherkonde valley viaduct. After almost eight years of continuous data collection and a load testing with two heavy weight freight trains the measured results are compared with the calculated behavior of a FE model and with a model for creep and shrinkage.
