Abstract
Thermotropic liquid crystal polymers are supposed to be one of the most interesting materials developed in the last decade. Their potential fields of use reach from electronics and apparatus construction to automotive industry as well as aero- and astronautics. Liquid crystal polymers show a strong anisotropy of their mechanical properties. The direction of the preferential material orientation in injection moulded parts is basically influenced by the flow history of the melt. Thus, the properties of parts made of LCP are determined not only by the material used but also by the mould design and the moulding parameters.
