Abstract

Knowledge of the bond behaviour of reinforcement in concrete structures is essential. Material models with the necessary simplifications have been found and validated for steel reinforcement with mechan-ical interlock to the concrete. For non-metallic reinforcements, the bond properties have to be re-evaluated individually due to the variety of fiber materials and impregnations, different surface properties or geometries. In addition, carbon reinforced concrete components often have particularly slender cross-sections or cross-sectional parts and may behave very differently in terms of deformation and cracking compared to conventional reinforced concrete construction.
In the present study, different loading conditions of the carbon reinforcement are considered for a material combination and analyzed in terms of the bond stress that occurs. This is made possible by quasi-continuous strain measurement using fiber optic sensors. The results show different bond stresses depending on the loading condition with moderate utilization of the reinforcement grid.
