Abstract

Within the framework of the NAUTILUS research project, the fast neutron spectrum of the Training Reactor AKR-2 at the Dresden University of Technology is being determined with proton recoil detectors. Hereby, two different detector technologies are utilized for the evaluation of different energy ranges of fast neutrons: Hydrogen-filled proportional detectors for energies from a few to roughly 1500 keV, and stilbene scintillation detectors for energies above 1 MeV. This publication presents the data acquisition system neXmess for both detector types currently in development and its implementation in the measurement chain at the AKR-2. Therefore, recent experimental results – functionality test results of the data acquisition system, exemplary pulses, pulse shape discrimination histograms and detector characterization results for hydrogen-filled proportional detectors – are being presented.
